UN agency says 200 Sudanese transported to Chad.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Friday that Chad had successfully evacuated over 200 people from Sudan, including dozens of children.

Fighting between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has killed hundreds of people and transformed residential neighborhoods into battlegrounds, leading governments across the globe to hurry to evacuate their embassies and citizens.

The United Nations group assisting Chadian authorities with the arrivals said in a statement that 226 people, including 39 children, were on board two charter flights. The plane arrived in N’Djamena, the country’s capital, late Thursday.

According to IOM spokeswoman Safa Msehli’s statements, two more planes are anticipated to arrive on Friday. Students, the elderly, those with medical conditions, and “extremely vulnerable families” were among those onboard the plane that landed in Chad on Thursday, she said
