For years now, Israeli have dedicated their weapons to eradicating any means of terror in and against their state. As a result, major investments in weapons to combat terror are highly effective in Israeli. Of course, the fight against terrorism has had its challenges over the years. Among is the price most civilians have to pay, going to great lengths of costing their lives. This is not far from what Syria is experiencing due to the Friday attacks in Hama, Syria. Four civilians, mother, father, and two children, are now dead following the Israeli missile launch.
Agenda for the Israeli missile launch on Syria soil
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights serves as a war monitor, this is not the first attack. In fact, January 13 marked one of the fatal air attacks that have happened over the years. The attacks were prominent in the eastern region of Syria. The attacks were majoring about Iran-backed depots. Consequently, there were 57 firefighter deaths with a series of injuries on dozens of people.
The Friday attacked commenced in a few hours towards morning. To justify this action, Israel affirms the Iran and Hezbollah pose a security threat. According to a Syrian military source, the missiles were from the direction of the Lebanese city of Tripoli. A bombardment of aerial missiles was spotted by the Syrian military aiming for the Hama governorate. Although the Syrian government made efforts to down most of the missiles, the family of four had no survival chances.
Diplomatic partnerships between the states
Towards the end of President Trump’s reign in power, the Syrian war monitor confirms the attacks’ intensity. In the year 2020 alone, there were 39 Israeli attacks on Syrian soil. All in total, there were 135 hit targets from Vehicles to warehouses and even military posts. Nonetheless, the Friday attacks mark the first attack since President Biden`s term in Office began on Wednesday. It is yet to be confirmed if the new administration is behind the attacks.
According to a former director of the Israeli military, Amos Yadlin, Israel and Syria play a common goal to end terror. As a result, there is an ongoing Israeli campaign against Iranian entrenchment in Syria. He further adds that just because of the new leadership in the US, Israeli won’t back down from their mission. The Israeli aggression for peace continues.
Syria-Iran relations
As much as Iran poses a security threat to Israeli, Syria has ties with Iran. Iran and Syria are in a weapon supply partnership, where Iran supplies arms and weapons to Syria. Hezbollah, a close ally to Iran, backs Iran and Syria President Bashar-al-Assad in the civil war. Nonetheless, Israeli still acknowledges the two allies posed a security risk hence the missile launch.
