Pandemic Losses: What To Do When Feeling Stuck in Life

Pandemic Losses Stuck in life
Stuck in life

Have you ever felt stuck in life, cornered like a trapped mouse? Now that the pandemic sipped in with its own troubles, life has become more unbearable. Well, I bet that you are not alone. 99% of the entire human race has got stuck at some point in life, and yes, even Einstein, the most intelligent. The only difference is, are you trying to get out of that entanglement of challenges to pull down the barriers in your way, or are you going to remain there in self-pity, accepting defeat?

If you are among the many that want to see that light at the end of your tunnel, then let’s dive into these life-saving strategies that the most famous people in the world today have used to direct their lives to an angle of never-ending success. If You are Stuck In Life;

Learn a New Skill

Find a new skill that could earn you extra pay or certification that could raise you from the current state of work ethic into the world sitting on skillful persons and their ability to perform.

Mark Zuckerberg made a fortune out of his computer programming skill that saw him create Facebook, an application that connects over a billion people. Bobby Murphy also created a multimedia messaging app known as Snapchat. These fellows top the list of richest youngest people globally through their inventions and applications that have contributed to their massive fortune and ease of communication worldwide.

Find Additional Sources Of Income

They say one stream of income does not make you one of the wealthiest or most affluent or even comfortable. This has been clear through some of the biggest or world’s wealthiest people. Those that earn enough have various streams of income. For example, Oprah Winfrey is not only a media mogul, but she has also made other investments in other business sectors.

Besides, Sheila Johnson, a media mogul, grew her fortune in media and invested in hotels and resorts that made her one of the first African Americans to attain a net worth of $1 billion through her hard work and persistence towards being better financially and economically free.

Improve On Your Current Job or Hands-on Skills

Get that upgrade on your current job skills or add to what you already have. If you are a barber, take time to learn more about the business and services that can allow you to expand your income entry from clients towards your benefit. You have probably heard of some saying, “The higher the qualification or skill, the more the money or pay.” Consider it.

So, you have a diploma or a certification at your current job? How about you think of a degree for you to add value to yourself? For example, Quavious Keyate Marshall, also known as Quavo from an Atlanta based rap group known as “Migos,” recently pursued an actual diploma, yet he hadn’t earned a GED. Why would a rapper worth $80 million still need an education? We, too, wondered why?

Ps: You don’t necessarily have to go back to school to improve your current job skills, but you can as well use your peers or workmates or the internet to help you upgrade.

Think Outside of the Box

Some of the most outstanding solutions to today’s problems were developed by thinking out of the box. So, why not try thinking out of the box to find or pick yourself out of the dilemma of feeling financially and economically stuck? You may wonder what thinking out of the box means. This is to do what everybody else is not doing. Identify the problem, find the solution, and go unique.

Apple’s guy, Steve Jobs, left Apple but later returned to lead the company as he birthed the innovations that saw the brand blossom and earn him a title as one of the most affluent entrepreneurial legends with a net worth of $10.2 billion. His creations are currently used to develop and build on other programs in Apple.

Let’s leave Steve Jobs and focus on Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the computer scientist who created the wide world web (www). Without his innovation, you wouldn’t be reading such an interesting article like this. If Andre Young, also known as Dr. DRE, didn’t invent a brand of headphones called “Beats by Dre,” we wouldn’t enjoy the feel of good music as we groove along but guess what, Andre Young sits on a fortune worth $820 Million.

We also look at Kanye West, regardless of his venture into the music industry. He also ventured into the fashion industry as a creative designer to the “Yeezy” sneakers that partnered with Adidas. He made a sell-out, and this contributed positively to his fortune. Think out of the box, and it will roll with you.

Get a Support System

Find the right support system to push through the troublesome time you try to fix and find yourself out of the pit where you are stuck. Wondering what a support system could be? Well, it’s that team of people that give you the right push through to lift you. Your support system could be your spouse.

Michelle Obama’s support towards her husband, Barack Obama’s, made him the first black president of the United States of America (USA); more so, Jay Z and Beyoncé have built an empire together.

Your support system could also be family; for instance, the Wright brothers who supported each other in their innovations made modern aviation possible. Bobby Murphy and his friends created Snapchat. So, what’s your support system? Do you have one or two people you can team up with to plan something spectacular?

Check Your Attitude

They say your attitude towards specific issues makes the results either positive or negative. It would help if you kept a positive attitude towards everything. If it’s a business running low on its income, you need to be persistent enough to see it exist after such a crisis. You lost your job and wondering what your Plan B is? Well, keep your head high on your strong shoulders long enough to carry yourself through that dilemma. In other words, don’t give up.

Eldrick Tont, also known as Tiger Woods, the world’s best golfer, suffered from a debilitating injury that left him vulnerable to where he could hardly sit or walk, resulting in four operations as he sought to get back to his career. Everyone thought he was stuck in life and will never rise again. He returned after a significant setback in his career that saw him lose a lot of what he earned as he lost endorsements, and his finances were cut short.

Still, the professional golfer didn’t look back as he fought and never gave up until he managed to return in full grace after his fall. If Tiger weren’t determined and persistent, he would have been hit to the bottom just like everyone had expected.

Learn From Others

Take a page out of Femi Otedola‘s book, who lost everything while drowning in his achievements as a billionaire. He is the chairperson of Forte Oil, a petroleum and power-generating company. According to Forbes, Femi had grown his company to one of the largest in Nigeria, with over 500 gas stations. Growth was fast, and earnings were at an all-time high. Then the tragedy hit.

He had almost 93% of the diesel market at his feet. Suddenly, the oil market plummeted, with over one million tons of diesel on the high seas, and the price fell from $146 to $34.

That was only the beginning of his problems. The naira was subsequently devalued, and the loan interest skyrocketed. When the dust settled, Otedola had lost over $480 million due to the plunge in oil prices, $258 million through the naira’s devaluation, a further $320 million due to accruing interest, and then finally $160 million when the stocks crashed.

Femi narrates that as he was stuck in life he had two options, either to commit suicide or to weather the storm. Rather, he weathered the storm. He knew it was a phase for something better, so he had to learn the value of his money and success.

The business mogul found himself at the heart of a financial crisis but fully bounced back to now having himself enjoy a whopping $1.85 billion. Femi Otedola is not the only person who has bounced back from different distractions or downfalls.

Bottom Line

If you have lost everything during this coronavirus pandemic and feel stuck in life, know that it is part of life’s biggest lessons. After all the struggles life has thrown at you, if you are resilient and head-strong, you will rise much wiser; and with lots of strategies to overcome anything.
