Homosexuality means the unnatural attraction of people with the same sex. It may be between females (lesbianism) or males (gays). The topic of homosexuality has been on and on since the olden times of the bible. During the times of Moses of the Bible, the acts of homosexuality would win one a heavy punishment. Communities would treat the offenders as outcasts and even stoned to death. At the time of Sodom and Gomorrah, God punished the two cities with fire due to their sexual immorality.
In this time, the topic of homosexuality is still controversial. People have different opinions concerning the act as cases still rise in Africa and the world at large. We see several people conducting gay marriages and other support the union. It is just like any other marriages and at times gay couples adopt children.
Some countries have developed a council whereby it defends the rights of the LGBT society. South American countries may hold events to recognize gay pride, allowing these people to express themselves. If one was to pass in those cities during that time, he would see the streets covered with rainbow objects as men wear weird clothes. Other Muslim cities condemn the act and if found, the authorities will apprehend and imprison you.
Coming to Africa, a country like South Africa to some extend supports the act as one does whatever he wishes. You would move across the streets at night and find a man wearing some tight skirts and long heels waiting for ‘clients.’ In Kenya, there are few cases of homosexuality acts since people do it in secret.
Fight For Human Rights-LGBT Rights
For several years, cruel people treat homosexuals in the wrong way. They may beat them to death or treat them as forbidden people. That is the reason why some countries developed councils to fight for the rights of homosexuals. In Africa, a country like Zambia may arrest and harshly sentence people found in homosexual acts. Human rights activists for LGBTQ rights consider this a rather unfair treatment to homosexuals. However, some constitutions may support the homosexuals or be against the act. The United States of America is a country whose constitution is quite fair.
LGBT In USA
Some critiques in the world consider the constitution of the USA to be quite ‘sexual immoral.’ There is a time during President Obama’s rule, whereby lawmakers passed a law concerning support of gay marriages. The number of gay marriages suddenly rose by a significant number indicating that many people were under the closet. Despite the support in homosexuality, homosexuals undergo homophobic attacks at times.
We look at an example of Jussie Smollet who stars in Empire as Jamal Lyon. Recently, there were reports of him under a homophobic attack that traumatized him. The star is known to date rich businessmen and in the series, there are several scenes of him in homosexual acts.
President Of Zambia Pardons Chataba And Samba
Japhet Chataba and Steven Samba were victims of unfair treatment of justice. The authorities arrested the two over homosexual acts and the court sentenced them for over 10 years in prison. Early this week, Edgar Lungu forgave some prisoners of which the gay couple was inclusive in commemoration of Africa’s Freedom Day.
