Konecta Launches Regional HQ in Egypt, Investing $100M Over Three Years

Egypt, celebrated for its millennia-old heritage, is now making headlines for its ascent as a global IT and outsourcing services hub. In a groundbreaking development, Konecta, a Spanish leader in digital and IT solutions, announced a $100 million investment to establish its regional headquarters in Egypt over the next three years. This landmark move is poised to reshape Egypt’s technology landscape, generate thousands of jobs, and solidify the nation’s reputation as a rising star in the digital economy.

Central to this development is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Konecta Egypt, the company’s newest regional subsidiary. The signing ceremony, hosted under the auspices of Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, attracted key figures from the IT industry and Konecta’s leadership.

Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, highlighted this pivotal moment by affirming Egypt’s growing capacity to lead in global outsourcing. Meanwhile, Konecta Group CEO Nourdine Bihmane is strongly committed to fostering Egyptian talent and delivering innovative solutions to markets worldwide.

With Konecta’s expansion, Egypt has asserted its position as not just a regional player but a global contender. The collaboration underscores the alignment between government initiatives and corporate investments to boost the country’s status on the international IT stage.

Located in New Cairo, Konecta’s state-of-the-art headquarters will serve as a hub of innovation, offering advanced IT and digital services. A centerpiece of this effort is the creation of a Global Center of Excellence (CoE) for Generative Artificial Intelligence. This center will pool global AI expertise and leverage cutting-edge technologies to refine service delivery and elevate productivity.

Beyond AI, Konecta’s operations will focus on crucial areas such as cybersecurity, digital transformation, big data analytics, IoT services, and multilingual customer support in widely spoken languages like English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. The initiative will create 3,000 specialized roles, blending the energy of young professionals with critical technical expertise.

Ahmed El-Harany, CEO of Konecta for the Middle East and Africa, praised Egypt’s advantages, including its deep human capital pool and thriving digital infrastructure. “Egypt’s unique blend of talent and technology provides an ideal foundation for global outsourcing,” El-Harany stated.

The partnership between ITIDA and Konecta represents more than just employment opportunities; it aims to equip Egyptians with skills aligned to global industry demands. ITIDA CEO Eng. Ahmed El-Zaher emphasized Egypt’s competitive edge, noting its ability to offer multilingual services backed by robust governmental and infrastructural support.

This initiative is a step forward in boosting Egypt’s ICT exports while enhancing its role in the international outsourcing and tech market. With specialized training programs, young Egyptians in the IT sector will gain access to resources and opportunities to thrive globally, shaping a workforce ready for tomorrow’s challenges.

The Egyptian government’s initiatives to foster a business-friendly environment have been pivotal in positioning the nation as a prime destination for investments like Konecta’s. These policies, coupled with a focus on technological advancement, provide fertile ground for innovation and growth.

Dr. Talaat sees Konecta’s investment as an important milestone not just for job creation but for Egypt’s wider ambition as a leading outsourcing hub. “This collaboration brings tremendous career opportunities for our youth while solidifying Egypt’s position as a choice destination for advanced global outsourcing services,” he remarked.

At the core of Konecta’s $100 million investment is its potential to change lives. Thousands of young Egyptians will benefit from access to a global network, cutting-edge technologies, and sustainable career opportunities. The partnership symbolizes a commitment to unlocking the untapped potential of Egypt’s youth, who will play a pivotal role in driving the nation’s digital economy forward.

As Egypt’s IT and outsourcing industry continues its rapid ascent, this collaboration with Konecta represents more than just financial investment – it’s a testament to the nation’s ambition and the talent of its people. Egypt is charting a course toward unparalleled growth on the global IT stage, and with initiatives like this one, its star is unmistakably on the rise.
