
Death toll in Madagascar from Tropical Cyclone Freddy rose to four Wednesday as the storm pushed westward into Africa.
Freddy made landfall in southern Madagascar on Tuesday night. Flooding the area and ripping apart roofs.
Initially, storm Cheneso had killed 33 people and displaced others in Madagascar around a month ago.
The government’s National Office for Risks and Disasters increased the dead toll to four. The storm destroyed 2,276 homes and displaced 11,047 people.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Freddy may resurface in the Mozambique Channel, strengthen before making landfall in Mozambique, and eventually reach Zimbabwe via Madagascar.
According to a World Food Program estimate, the storm may affect 3.3 million people in Mozambique, Madagascar, and Zimbabwe, OCHA stated.
